QUIT SMOKING NOW
HIGH SUCCESS RATE: ACUPUNCTURE SMOKING
CESSATION PROGRAM
Addiction to cigarettes is a very
serious health problem and causes the death of hundreds of
Americans every day. Former Surgeon General Koop once said
that it might be as difficult to quit smoking as it is to
stop using cocaine.
Acupuncture is not a miracle cure, but
it makes quitting very easy. Acupuncture works by triggering
the secretion of neurotransmitters in the brain suppressing
withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, nervousness,
irritability or insomnia, commonly experienced when trying
to quit smoking. After a few treatments patients often
report that they LOSE THEIR TASTE FOR CIGARETTES.
The treatment program is scheduled
over two weeks, or ten consecutive treatments (Wednesday and
week‑ends excepted). During the first week patients are
instructed to progressively cut down the number of
cigarettes (smoke as little as possible). They easily stop
by the beginning of the next week and still continue the
treatments for THEIR FIRST WEEK WITHOUT CIGARETTES. During
the detoxification period it is advisable to get a
reasonable amount of exercise, plenty of rest, drink water
and take some vitamins such as a multi‑vitamin and C.
Drinking alcohol is not recommended because it tends to
interfere with the treatment, and weakens one's resolve.
If there was a special therapy that
would prevent heart disease, breast, lung, throat and other
types of cancer, emphysema and recurrent upper respiratory
infections, that would also decrease shortness of breath and
tone the skin, you would think that everybody would sign up
for it, no matter the cost. Well, stopping smoking DOES ALL
THAT. Easier said than done? Acupuncture can help you if you
feel it's time for you to quit.
